We recently visited Brix Barbecue with high hopes, fueled by all the hype I'd seen on social media. Let me just say — everything online is definitely not what it seems.
First off, they were out of a lot of their staple items. Several dishes that actually drew me to the restaurant in the first place are no longer even offered, which was a major letdown right out the gate. When you build up expectations based on what a place promotes, it’s frustrating to show up and find out the menu has changed without warning.
The overall experience didn’t improve much from there. My 5-year-old daughter, who usually eats everything without hesitation, barely touched her food — that alone says a lot. As someone from Memphis who's been around real, high-quality BBQ my whole life, I can confidently say Brix fell flat.
The only bright spot? The Brix Burger. It was solid and probably the only thing that saved the trip from being a total waste. Outside of that, everything else we tried was trash — either dry, flavorless, or just way off the mark for a place that calls itself a barbecue spot.
