I visited Spiral Diner & Bakery (Fort Worth location) recently and unfortunately had a deeply disappointing experience. From the moment we were seated, it seemed the server delayed service to our table while attending other patrons. When she finally got to us, she delayed taking our order and then served a later‑arriving table (same dish) before us. She claimed it was because we ordered a “meal” rather than an “appetizer,” but I know how restaurant operations work (I used to work at a location of Spiral when the Dallas restaurant was open), and that explanation simply didn’t hold up.
Her dismissive attitude asking “Are you happy now?” after our food arrived struck me as disrespectful and felt intentionally condescending, not casual banter. All of this made it clear we were treated differently than other diners.
As a Black woman, it’s painful and exhausting to continually experience these coded, unequal behaviors when all we wanted was a fair, respectful dining experience. I hope the management sees this review, acknowledges there’s a real problem, and addresses how staff treat Black customers. Other than that the food was good just hoped for a better experience.
