West Side Cafe — Fort Worth’s Most Beloved Homestyle Comfort Food Diner, Where Pancakes Bigger Than Your Face, Daily Lunch Specials, and Homemade Pies Have Kept Camp Bowie West Regulars Coming Back Since 1996

Some restaurants earn their following through buzz and accolades. West Side Cafe at 7950 Camp Bowie West earned its through nearly three decades of genuine, unpretentious, feed-you-like-family homestyle cooking that keeps regulars coming back week after week — sometimes multiple times a week. Ranked #19 of more than 1,225 Fort Worth restaurants on TripAdvisor with a 4.5-star rating across 198 reviews, and featured by the Fort Worth Love List on TikTok where the video went viral with 2,400 likes and thousands of shares, West Side Cafe is the rare diner that delivers on every expectation the moment you walk through the door. The warm décor pays tribute to military veterans, the staff knows regulars by name, and the old-school diner atmosphere carries the unmistakable feeling of a place that exists to take care of people rather than impress them. Reviewers consistently describe it as the best homestyle breakfast they’ve had since childhood, and newcomers who discover it frequently report eating there six times in their first two months.

The menu is a celebration of American comfort food cooked the right way with serious portions at prices that feel like a throwback. Breakfast is served all day and the griddle program is legendary: pancakes described by regulars as bigger than your face served with real butter and warm syrup, fluffy scrambled eggs, perfectly crisped bacon, fat sausage patties, biscuits and cream gravy that draw their own devoted following, and egg dishes ranging from the Three Egg Western Omelette loaded with ham, onions, peppers, and cheese to the ultimate burrito packed with eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, and cheddar to the steak and eggs featuring a juicy 6 oz. sirloin cooked to order. Lunch kicks in at 10:45am with daily specials that rotate through the week: Meatloaf Tuesday with creole sauce and two sides, chicken and dumplings like grandma used to make, chicken fried chicken with cream gravy that earns its own rave reviews, hand-battered fried chicken tenders, half-pound and third-pound burgers on warm buns with fresh-cut toppings and a mountain of fries. The dessert program is the finale nobody skips: individual homemade cakes and pies made fresh daily — the piña colada cake draws raves, the oatmeal cake with butter is a sleeper hit, and the oversized soft-baked chocolate chip cookie is larger than your hand and worth every calorie.

West Side Cafe is located at 7950 Camp Bowie West Blvd. at Cherry Lane, Fort Worth, TX 76116, and is open seven days a week from 7am to 3pm. Delivery is available via DoorDash and Uber Eats, online ordering is available through the website, and whole desserts are available for order and pickup for special occasions. With its senior menu, generous portions, incredibly reasonable prices, and a staff whose warmth and hospitality are praised in nearly every review, West Side Cafe is the kind of Fort Worth treasure that deserves to be passed down from generation to generation. This place is awesome. Great atmosphere, good coffee and delicious food. All the years that I have lived in this town, I dont know why I haven't been here. We will be back for a lunch, the chicken fried steak looks really good.

Burger and fries is what I had and it was pretty good. This was the first time trying this place. You just need to come in and try whatever your taste buds are craving, because they probably have it on the menu.

Don’t recommend..
waitress who just looked at me like I was dumb the whole time ordering only checked my table one time during my whole visit. There was lots of small hairs on the plate and when the waitress was finally able to be called over, and notified, she then said “well nobody in the back has that color hair”. Okay? No I’m sorry or anything just walked over to the bar to giggle and laugh with her coworkers. Then walks back over and says okay we’re taking the sandwich off but we’re still charging for the rest. Like okay? Seems as if none of the staff here has hospitality considering not one apology came from the whole visit even after being charged at the register by the OWNER who was notified of this situation. Lots of waitresses putting their phones in their back pockets touching their butts yet not washing their hands… this place really needs some help no wonder they almost closed down not too long ago…

This place is ahhhhhhhhmazing!!! The food and prompt attention to detail is what we loved here. When you are asked a million times, is everybody doing good? Need more tea, coffee, water.... that's when you know it's gonna be the best. Hands down the best cafe around. Will definitely be coming back.

Super friendly and attentive service. Good prices, flavor and portions. They have a good variety of food. Their pancakes and syrup were REALLY GOOD. Hashbrown casserole was delicious. They have turkey bacon as an option to substitute.

This is the second time we've stopped here for breakfast, after a fun weekend in Dallas. The food is amazing every time. The lunch menu looks delicious, but I can never make myself order anything other than breakfast. The eggs, hashbrowns, pancakes, biscuits, and chicken fried steak are perfect. If you want a delicious diner breakfast that doesn't hurt your wallet, you have to stop here.

This restaurant doesn't seem like much on the outside, but wow! Looks can be deceiving! The food is amazing! The salads were huge and fresh, the fries were some of the best I've ever had and the pintos were delicious! And the desserts!!! They were HUGE! Definitely large enough to share!
