Dutch’s Hamburgers — A Fort Worth TCU Landmark Serving Legendary Burgers, Cold Beer, and Horned Frog Heritage on South University Drive Since 2007
Dutch’s Hamburgers opened in the spring of 2007 at 3009 S. University Dr., sitting in a historic building directly facing the main TCU campus. Dutch’s was named after Leo “Dutch” Meyer — the legendary TCU coach who led the Horned Frogs to back-to-back national championships in 1935 and 1938, and was eventually inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame — and the restaurant wears that heritage proudly with purple memorabilia lining the walls. What started as a neighborhood burger joint has grown into one of the most beloved and iconic spots on the Fort Worth dining scene, drawing students, families, alumni, and locals who all agree on one thing: the burgers here are something special.
Dutch’s unique sweet sourdough buns are soft, grilled, and utterly addicting, and the fat, juicy burger patties complement them with excellence across a menu of 12 different hamburgers. Standouts include the Vaquero loaded with jalapeño strings and chipotle mayo, the Habanero for heat seekers, the Bacon Bleu Cheese, and the classic Dutch Burger. The bacon and bleu cheese burger was voted by Texas Monthly as one of the top ten best burgers in the state of Texas. Rounding out the menu are hand-cut fries, hand-dipped onion rings, great salads, nachos, griddled sandwiches, and the famous handmade mozzarella sticks — plus a full bar featuring 30 beers on tap and the iconic Frozen Frog cocktail.
Dutch’s has three patios including a rooftop patio overlooking the TCU campus, making it one of the best spots in Fort Worth to catch a sunny afternoon with a cold beer in hand. Dutch’s is open Monday through Wednesday and weekends 11am–9pm, and Thursday through Friday 11am–10pm, with online ordering, carryout, and delivery all available. Whether you’re catching a game day crowd or just chasing a great burger on a Tuesday, Dutch’s delivers every time — find more of Fort Worth’s best restaurants in the Fort Worth restaurant guide on Selling the Fort.
