Jon’s Grille — Chef Jon Bonnell’s Ranch-to-Table Fast Casual Bringing Bold Texas Flavors, Smoked Akaushi Brisket, and 32 Draft Beers to West Berry Street Near TCU

Fort Worth’s most celebrated chef takes a decidedly casual turn at Jon’s Grille at 2905 W. Berry St., the newest concept from Chef Jon Bonnell — the culinary force behind the acclaimed Bonnell’s Texas Fine Cuisine and Waters restaurant — alongside his brother Dr. Ric Bonnell and longtime partner Chef Ed McOwen of the Bonnell’s Restaurant Group. Built entirely around a ranch-to-table philosophy, Jon’s Grille is a love letter to Texas: locally sourced meats, beer, and spirits from across the Lone Star State, all served in a relaxed, family-friendly dining room outfitted with 11 big-screen TVs that make it equal parts neighborhood sports bar and serious food destination. It’s the kind of place where you can watch the game, drink a great Texas craft beer, and eat a chef-driven burger that would earn respect at a white-tablecloth restaurant — all without breaking the bank or dressing up.

The food program at Jon’s Grille is rooted in Texas craft and creativity at every price point. The burger menu centers on two formats: the third-pound “Flatty” and the half-pound “Fatty,” both served on fresh-baked bread from Signature Baking Company or available as a bowl for the carb-conscious crowd. Behind that, the pitmaster team smokes Akaushi brisket — one of the most prized beef breeds in the world, known for its extraordinary marbling and buttery texture — low and slow over hickory wood alongside locally sourced sausage and rotating daily smoked meats. Specialty spuds, chef-inspired sides, barbecue plates, fresh salads, and snacks described on the menu as “knee-slappin’ good” fill out the rest of the card. The bar is a Texas craft showcase: 32 beers on draft, all hand-selected from top Lone Star State breweries, plus a craft cocktail menu built on Texas-made spirits and fresh-pressed juices. Don’t leave without trying a hand-spun milkshake — boozy or otherwise.

Jon’s Grille is located at 2905 W. Berry St., Fort Worth, TX 76109, just steps from TCU’s campus, and is open Sunday through Wednesday from 11am to 11pm and Thursday through Saturday from 11am to midnight. Happy hour runs weekdays from 3 to 6pm. Online ordering, catering, and a Ranch to Table retail product line are all available. Whether you’re a Bonnell’s loyalist curious to see what the chef does when he loosens his collar, or simply a TCU-area regular searching for your new go-to spot for great food and cold Texas beer, Jon’s Grille delivers from the first bite to the last sip. We love bonnels and decided to give this a try. First off we loved the atmosphere. Very laid back and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We started with appetizers and drinks and both were fantastic. But then tried the burger and fries. They did not disappoint… the patty melt was to die for!!! Over all we loved our visit and plan on making it a regular stop for us!!!

Great food! Came here because we love Bonnell’s and wanted to check out his burger place. My order was wrong and they quickly fixed it. It’s a bar atmosphere and can be loud if a lot of people are here. Lots of TV’s to watch sports games.

Very yummy food!! I will admit, it is EXTREMELY overpriced, but it is yummy. If you have the money to try it, I recommend giving it a go!

Now, my tried and true at Jon’s Grille that always brings me back, though, is not the food. It is the spiked Toasted Marshmallow milkshake. It is worth every penny. It is DELICIOUS. I’ve never had the other shakes, but I’m sure they’re great, too.

For late night food, my personal preference will always be Buffalo Bros across the street, as you get more for your money and I think it is just my preference, but I really like Jon’s Grille for a late night dessert. Highly recommend the shake!

Had an amazing date night at Jons Grille last night. Our server Mar, was on top of everything.
We came in specifically for martini day, and the expresso martinis alone were worth the trip. Our food came out way quicker than expected and we were vibing to an awesome acoustic set by a local musician while Mar made sure our glasses were never empty.
Foodwise, we tried one of the features, meatballs, appetizer sampler with burnt ends, ribs and wings, and a dilla for good measure. Everything had such a good flavor! Seasoning is certainly used. Only note is that it was a lil saucy for my liking, but thats only because the meat had such a great flavor and was definitely the star.
Overall such an awesome night and cant wait for visit!

Had a great experience at Jon’s today! The first time I came, I couldn’t say the same. But I promised I wouldn’t review u til I gave it another chance. It was lunch but not crazy busy, so we sat quickly at the bar. Mar was right there to greet us and tell us about the special. She was amazing through the whole experience. I ordered the double flatly Hatch Chile. It was cooked perfectly. The bun was toasted a little more than I like, but not burnt. The toppings were carefully placed so intently that I never lost a single bit of burger through the whole time I was eating it. The o ion rings were a little thin, but cooked perfectly and crispy. The Ranch was incredible! The staff definitely kept the place clean from the bar top to the bathrooms. I’m glad I returned, because this experience will bring me back many more times!

My family and I went in on a weeknight, with reservations (just in case). We were seated and greeted! Our waiter/bartender was so very accomidating, kind and friendly. He was informed of my daughter's birthday, (9) and treated her so special. He helped us maneuver the menu with suggestions and gave great service! All the food was delicious. And she even got a special sundae to herself. She was greeted by other staff members and wished a very happy birthday. Our family had a tremendous time with fabulous food and can't wait until we return.

Thanks Jon's Grille

Excellent place where friends and I decided to watch game one of the Texas Rangers in the World Series and they've got plenty of t.v.'s to do just that. The atmosphere is great. Food was okay. If you are a fan of crazy beer, this place is for you. They have good attentive bartenders but I did have issue with one waitress and I won't mention her name but she seemed as though it may have been a busy day for her and wanted to display poor customer service. That's the reason for the dip in a start. Other than that not a bad place.
