Tres Betos Taqueria — A Fort Worth Northside Institution Where Authentic Mexican Flavors, $1 Street Tacos, Legendary Birria, and a Party-Like Atmosphere Make NE 28th Street the Most Delicious Destination in the Neighborhood

When Fort Worth Magazine calls a taqueria a must-visit and Yelp reviewers say they’d give it more than five stars if they could, you pay attention — and Tres Betos Taqueria at 2306 NE 28th St. in Fort Worth’s Northside has been earning that kind of loyalty for well over a decade. Tucked into an unassuming strip mall near Interstate 35, this family-owned taqueria is a genuine hidden gem of the first order: a lively, clean, spacious dining room with a club-like energy — think DJ music, festive décor, and a room that fills with families, regulars, and new converts — at prices so honest they almost feel like a different era. The kitchen opens at 7am daily and the two dining rooms fill fast, a testament to the deeply loyal neighborhood following this place has cultivated one homemade tortilla at a time. Fort Worth Magazine called the breakfast tacos cheap and delicious, noting the Taco Loco — packed with bacon, sausage, chorizo, ham, beans, and cheese on house corn or locally sourced flour tortillas — is worth every penny of the famously affordable upcharge.

The menu stretches far beyond breakfast into one of the most comprehensive authentic Mexican menus on the Northside. The birria tacos have become a runaway crowd favorite: slow-braised beef steeped in a deep red consommé, loaded into doubled corn tortillas, griddled until crispy, and served with a side of rich dipping broth that regulars say is as satisfying as any bowl of soup they’ve ever had. Green chilaquiles with homemade tortilla chips bathed in salsa verde and topped with crema and cotija, menudo simmered overnight and served with house-made tortillas on weekends, shrimp dishes, and a full slate of house specialties round out a menu that genuinely rewards exploration. Handmade tortillas — both corn and flour — accompany virtually everything, and the agua fresca program, including a standout strawberry horchata, provides the perfect cold counterpoint to the bold, deeply spiced food. The cocktail menu and full bar make evening visits feel like a neighborhood celebration.

Tres Betos Taqueria is located at 2306 NE 28th St., Fort Worth, TX 76106, and is open Monday through Wednesday and Sunday from 7am to midnight, and Thursday through Saturday from 7am to 2am — making it one of the latest-closing taquerias in the city and a go-to destination for late-night authentic Mexican food. Dine-in, takeout, and online ordering are all available. Cash and cards accepted. Whether you’re chasing the best birria tacos in Fort Worth, a towering plate of chilaquiles for brunch, or simply one of those meals where every bite makes you wonder why you haven’t been coming here your whole life, Tres Betos is the answer. My family and I tried out this restaurant for the first time. We were on our way home from visiting the stockyards and didn’t want to wait in a long line at a restaurant close by. We found Tres Betos and were so happy we did! The food was so delicious and even the picky eaters were satisfied! The kids had fun watching football and we all enjoyed the DJ! We’ll be back for sure and highly recommend this place.

We went for 1$ taco Tuesday. Food was delicious. Very well seasoned. Fresh tortillas. Quick service. They give chips and salsa too. And they have a green and red salsa on the table.

Came to try this place for the first time, immediately after walking in the hostess said something entirely slurred (I take it she was drunk) after having to ask what was being said 3x we finally made words out of it and were seated by one of the waitresses. I asked for a mangonada; a mock tail on their menu. Then was asked for my ID (im 19 y/o) so I questioned why it was needed. Apparently it was alcoholic (there was one alcoholic and one cocktail version of the drink, but I pointed at where it was on the menu) at this point it seemed like the waitress was drunk as well. I had to pick another drink, a cucumber water (which was nasty). The entire time (the two times she checked up on the table) the waitress was just hard to talk to as her speech was slurred and her responses were delayed or just didn’t make sense. We finally get our food, it was decent so that isn’t necessarily the problem. Not even halfway through our meal we find a fly in the food. We try to get someone attention and finally after 10 minutes of waiting for someone to come they get what I’m assuming is the manager. He walks over and apologizes as and I quote “the flies have been a problem recently because the dumpster in the back hasn’t been fumigates” then proceeds to try and makes jokes about the situation saying the guy who usually does it is on vacation. I’m sorry but that isn’t my problem or a laughing matter. We were offered a discount which was fine but then was offered a to go box for the remaining plates? The audacity, as if I’m gonna eat any further after the flies have been a “recurring problem”…. Overall the service was terrible and management obviously isnt on top of things.

A great place to hangout and get food.
We had the birria sopa com o & chicken Alfredo.

The Alfredo was a little expensive and nothing crazy to go for.

The birria sopa & tacos were amazing.
Definitely will go back for that.
They also have strawberry horchata & other fresh drinks.

Overall I would recommend to anyone.
It has a nice Latin vibe & they have Banda/ dj on Fri/Sat

I just recently found this spot thanks to a friend and I could not be happier. This is a great place for everyone and anyone looking for delicious authentic Mexican food.

Most recently I went with my husband on a Friday between 1-2pm. There was a few people but nothing overwhelming. We found parking pretty easily and were promptly seated. The hostess was so kind, I wish I had caught her name. Our waitress, Ruby, was also great. Kind and attentive, she kept our drinks refilled and would check on us periodically. We ordered the chilaquiles - one with the steak and the other without - as well as a pancake for our toddler. To drink we had a few Mexican cokes, spicy Sandia margarita and a ranch water. Everything was delicious!! The food and drink pricing felt fair in my opinion considering the prices everywhere else. Total for our meal was about $65

I will most definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. Amazing food, drinks, service, and ambiance.
