Vibe Taco — Fort Worth’s Laid-Back TCU-Area Taco Hangout Where Craft Tacos, Hurricane Fries, Loaded Nachos, and a Party-Ready Bar Scene Make South University Drive the Place to Be Thursday Through Saturday

Started as a beloved food truck in Alvarado before earning a loyal following that demanded a permanent home, Vibe Taco at 3201 S. University Dr. has settled comfortably into its role as one of the TCU neighborhood’s most fun and flavorful destinations since opening its Fort Worth brick-and-mortar location. Fort Worth Weekly visited and came away raving about the Saw’d Off Taco — two breaded and fried chicken tenders blanketed in thick queso and fresh pico de gallo, a trifecta of juicy poultry, creamy cheese, and spicy freshness — and the Hurricane Fries, a towering mound of seasoned tots smothered in melted cheddar, tender smoked brisket chunks, and freshly diced cilantro, onions, and tomatoes that could easily feed two. The single large room with a full bar at the back, long rows of tall tables, arcade games in the corner, and free parking in the adjacent garage creates an easy-going atmosphere that transforms into a full-on party scene Thursday through Saturday evenings when the TCU crowd descends in force.

The menu at Vibe Taco earns its “craft” label with creative combinations that go well beyond typical Tex-Mex. Standout craft tacos include the Kook — signature chicken fajita, pineapple pico, queso fresco, cilantro, and chipotle crema — the Smoked Out Brisket available on flour or corn tortilla, the Buffalo Chicken Taco, and the Holy Trinity deal letting guests choose any three tacos at a value price. Appetizers shine with hand-battered fried pickle bites with ranch, mac and cheese bites with crispy golden exteriors and gooey American cheese interiors, and queso blanco with house-made tortilla chips. The B.Y.O.B. — build your own bowl — gives the grain bowl crowd a customizable option loaded with fresh ingredients. The bar program is a genuine draw: craft cocktails, bottled and draft beers, pitchers and towers of margaritas, seltzers, and house margaritas made with El Jimador Tequila that regulars describe as the perfect tart-sweet balance. Taco Tuesday brings three tacos for $12, making it one of the best weekly deals in the TCU corridor.

Vibe Taco Fort Worth is located at 3201 S. University Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76109, just north of Bluebonnet Circle, and is open Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 10pm, and Thursday through Saturday from noon to midnight, with Sunday and Monday closed. Dine-in, takeout, and delivery via Uber Eats are all available, with online ordering through the website. Vibe Taco has expanded beyond Fort Worth with additional locations in Port Aransas and Burleson, but the University Drive original remains the flagship. Cheese Sticks $7, Fried Pickles $7, House Margarita $8...Plus a gratuity for two people in an empty bar. $28.28. Hospitality was "meh". Margarita was syrupy. Won't come back.

Our graduation celebration was perfect at Vibe Taco. The venue is an awesome space, the food was fantastic! The owner was great to work with. The staff was so friendly and helpful, even happily rescued our balloons from the ceiling. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

I’m from Vegas and this place is my first stop anytime I’m close to the area. After my first visit over a month ago I’d hooked on the elote! By far the best elote I’ve ever had and Vegas puts out some great elote. Third visit had to get two elotes cause I won’t share any of mine!

The only ding on this place, which doesn’t really apply since I’m the outlier (a married grandfather in a sea of college-aged kids), is the interior and decor, which isn’t super comfortable for seating, but is great for social gatherings for the younger folks.

But bartender and server Chris and owner and chef Anselum served me up a wonderful meal. I had chips with queso blanco, a grilled chicken taco on a GMO corn tortilla, and to top it off I had a fried Twinkie!

It’s a vibe 🤙 We almost ordered half the menu! I found the best vegetarian taco I’ve ever had which was the Tree Hugger Taco! Though I don’t eat meat, my family that does had very high praise for the brisket fries, the buffalo chicken taco, and the krispy taco. Definitely the best American tacos in Fort Worth!! 🌮🌮🌮

Also, the fried green tomatoes are superb.

This place has definitely earned its name because it is certainly a Vibe. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by Trent and told about the from-scratch menu. The margarita was great and the food was incredible. We tried each of the salsas and the pineapple one was sooo good! We ordered seven tacos to try and each of them absolutely delivered on flavor. I am typically not one to order anything avocado (I know, I'm weird) so I was blown away at my surprise favorite taco, The Tree Hugger. This wonderful taco is filled with fried avocado, pineapple pico, queso fresco, cilantro and cilantro lime crema. Aside from the food, the location is great and I'm thrilled that I live close by. Along with being in a great spot for TCU students, it can also be a place for other locals to enjoy and become a regular. I highly recommend Vibe Taco!

Vibe Taco is a desperately needed and welcome addition to the neighborhood. Probably most important is their food- top quality and fresh. A very good mix of menu options and a decent bar with drink selections. Perhaps what makes this review 5 star for me is their staff. The owners are building a culture within their staff that is outpacing all the other restaurants in the area. I have eaten here a couple of times now and am impressed more with each visit. 10/10 recommend.
