Potential ADA Violations & Disability Discrimination at the Door

I am extremely concerned about repeated incidents I have personally witnessed at Guitars & Cadillacs involving what appeared to be discriminatory treatment toward individuals with disabilities. I have also spoken with multiple people who report similar experiences.

On more than one occasion, the door security/bouncer identified to me as "Mikey" refused entry to individuals based on subjective judgments about their appearance. From what I observed and what has been described to me, these decisions did not appear to be based on behavior, safety, or intoxication -- but rather on assumptions and personal stereotyping.

It is important to understand that even if this establishment considers itself "private," it is still classified as a place of public accommodation under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. § 12182). Under federal law, businesses open to the public -- including bars, clubs, and entertainment venues -- may not discriminate against individuals on the basis of disability. Denial of entry based on perceived disability, appearance, or assumptions can constitute unlawful discrimination.

Private ownership does not override federal civil rights protections. The ADA is very clear that discrimination based on disability, including decisions rooted in stereotypes or generalizations, is prohibited.

Due to the pattern of incidents I have witnessed and been informed of, I am actively considering pursuing this matter further through appropriate legal channels and filing formal complaints if corrective action is not taken. I encourage management to immediately review ADA compliance requirements and ensure all security staff are properly trained on disability rights and lawful entry policies.

Everyone deserves equal access and fair treatment under the law.

Don't come on Saturdays they have competitions that disrupt folks from just having fun enjoying the dance floor. They made us sit through this unfortunate experience. Not worth the drive from Dallas.

We were visiting from out of town and happened on this place. It was the Texas dance experience we were hoping for! We had a great time! The place was packed. Only down side was that all of the table were reserved ahead of time and there was nowhere to sit down.

Fun place to dance, the free lessons were good. Great sound system and large dance floor. Great crowd to social dance with. Fun experience I’ll be back.

Loved this place. The crowd was so much fun, the bartender was as sweet as could be. Definitely plan on going back!

If you want to Country Western dance this is not the place. Guess you just throw on boots and you can call it country. They dress country but are ballroom dancers. If it's not ballroom dancing it's line dances. It was like watching an aerobics class or a very bad version of dancing with the stars. Seems they want to line dance to every song. The DJ obviously dose not know country music. His previous gig must have been at a seniors dance hall. I love country music and listen to it all day. We didn't hear a single top country song. Very disappointed. I paid for a margarita but got triplesec on the rocks. It was so bad I didnt even drink it. Decided to get a beer....cant mess that up.
We will definitely not return!!

Solid place to get some dancing out. You start losing me when it's later in the night and they play less country. Good atmosphere, cold water, working AC, free lessons, and lively crowd. Certainly beats Billy Bob's in some areas

I just love it here—been coming for years! But tonight I felt especially inspired to leave a review because of Dusty. She’s a bartender and incredibly personable, sweet, and so down to earth. What really stands out is how she keeps you in the loop on the best deals throughout the night. She makes sure you’re getting the most bang for your buck without ever making you feel pressured to spend more. It’s rare to find that kind of honesty and warmth behind the bar. She’s a gem!

i have been coming here for a year and i think it’s time for me to write a review. the dj does not go with the vibe of his crowd. at some points the dance floor was EMPTY, i have never been to a country bar where it’s empty. instead of saying “ill see what i can do,” just say i can’t or something other than that because that is a lie, he just doesn’t want too. the mix coming out of the line dance is bad. the mix from a line dance to two step is not good. music is a solid 4/10.

i’ve never tried the food here so i cannot say much. the service here is great though for drinks, theyre pretty fast!

overall, the majority of the crowd here is older people with some college kids/younger crowd. let’s just say, if electric cowboy was closer i would go there. again, the dj does not go with the crowd, and even with the country music he picks,6/10 it’s not good. but the drinks are good, 9/10.

The server was running behind but tried her best to keep up. She was cheerful and kind.. just busy!
The food was good however I didn’t get my ribeye sandwich until my guests were half finished with their meal. Again, the server was sincere when apologizing. She checked on our table several times to make sure we were happy.
We got the cheesecake for dessert. I don’t recommend it as it was dry.
My biggest problem was the cleanliness of the establishment. There were straws, dirty napkins and food crumbs all over the patio floor.
My friend went to smoke on the smoking deck and I was shocked to see how neglected it was. Empty plastic bags, twigs, and garbage littered the floor. On the east side was old plastic mulch bags that had been discarded ( possibly years ago). It looked like that area hadn’t been cleaned for several months.
I’ll come back after you offer me a clean dining environment.
