We found this speakeasy by accident while standing in the endless line at Ichiro Izakaya. Since drinking is apparently frowned upon while waiting, we wandered next door and stumbled into The Amber Room.

Finding it is half the point. Look for the suspicious wooden door. Inside, the space leans hard into pre-Depression charm. High-back paisley chairs, tucked-away corners, and the kind of layout meant for quiet conversations and bad decisions made discreetly. We took seats at the bar.

The cocktails were excellent. Beautifully built, delivered quickly, and clearly made by people who care. I had their take on a Manhattan and it was outstanding. Since I was driving, my wife ordered the No Shrubs and Orchard in the Morning. Both were thoughtful, balanced, and memorable. This is a bar that understands craft.

And then there was the barback.

In full view of the bar (in the middle of the bar floor), he blew his nose, pocketed the tissue, and went back to work. Dirty glasses were “washed” by briefly dipping them into the sink. No scrubbing. No machine. When customers asked for water, he carried the glasses by placing his fingers inside them before filling and serving. Then came the polishing. A rag inside and out of each glass, followed by transporting multiple “clean” glasses at once with fingers fully inserted. All of this happened in plain sight.

That is the frustrating part. The bartenders clearly care about what they are making. The owners went to real effort to build an atmosphere worth seeking out. Which makes you wonder what is happening when no one is watching.

The Amber Room is capable of being something special. Right now, it is memorable for reasons it should not be.

I just turned 21 a week or 2 ago. I haven't stopped thinking about this place and how sweet the bartender was. To the one who worked the night of the 24th, I love you. Made amazing drinks, I tried so many and loved them all. They made the drinks quickly and correctly. Even comped one of my drinks of my birthday without me asking. Incredible spot. I hope to be back soon!

Very cool lounge with great ambiance, bartenders, and drinks. If you have plans at W&F, I highly recommend you make the Amber Room part of those plans.

What a hidden gem of a speakeasy! So hard to find but so worth it! Cocktails are amazing ! My favorite was the All Rye, All Rye, All Rye! So delicious and different! Awesome atmosphere and bartenders were fast and friendly!

Fun speakeasy in Fort Worth. Having never been, getting inside was a novel thing.
Once in you'd be like, "ok, it's a bar." It's so much more. The bartenders are amazing. The work and care the put into their craft is easily noticeable. This isn't just cranking out drinks with better ingredients. It's not a painstaking art show either.
Like all good cocktail bars, they have their menu, and then you can just trust the bartender with a general flavor profile and let them give you something amazing you'd never thought of otherwise.
